PSA, or prostate-specific antigen, is a protein produced by both normal and malignant cells of the prostate gland. The PSA test determines the amount of PSA in a man's blood. PSA levels are frequently elevated in men suffering from prostate cancer, or noncancerous condition such as prostatitis, or an enlarged prostate gland.
